The Pennsylvania Rural Health Model is an alternative payment model designed to address the financial challenges faced by rural hospitals by transitioning them from fee-for-service to global budget payments. Pennsylvania is the first state in the country to design and implement a model that is focused entirely on rural hospitals. In this episode, Wendy Haislip shares experiences with the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model from her perspective as the Chief Nursing Officer at Indiana Regional Medical Center who is a participant in the program. She also discusses how rural hospitals are responding to nursing workforce challenges.
